A comprehensive reference guide on water treatment has been released by the American Water Works Association, of Denver, entitled “Principles and Practices of Water Supply Operations: Water Treatment” (third edition). An essential step in supplying safe drinking water is treatment of the source water. The treatment process largely depends on the characteristics of the raw water. Consequently, drinking water professionals must be knowledgeable about the available treatment processes and current water supply regulations.
