The patented ozone contacting system from Phoenix-based GDT Water Process Corp. will be installed at the Orlando Utility commission’s (OUC) 10 mgd Sky Lake water treatment facility for in-line pressurized oxidation and disinfection testing. Previous pilot testing determined that applied ozone dosages can be reduced by up to 40 percent due to the dynamic mixing and improved mass transfer with pressurized contacting over conventional fine bubble diffuser contacting for Sulfide Ion (S 2-) oxidation.
