Westbrook, Maine-based IDEXX Laboratories’ rapid microbiological test methods have been listed in the USEPA’s final ambient water rule. The methods included in the rule are Colilert®, Colilert®-18, Enterolert™, Quanti-Tray® and Quanti-Tray®/2000. The company’s Filta-Max® filter for collection and concentration of Cryptosporidium was also included in the rule. This is the first time that the USEPA has specified E. coli as a water quality indicator for ambient water under the Clean Water Act.
