Koch Membrane Systems, Inc. introduces PURON® submerged membrane modules for membrane bioreactor treatment. The modules have recently earned State of California Water Recycling Criteria Title 22 compliance certification. Hollow fiber membranes (two mm in diameter) with a pore size of less than 0.1 m are bundled into a single header at the lower end. Each filter is sealed at the upper end and allowed to float freely, with water flowing from the inside to the outside of the filters. Solids and particulates are blocked by the membrane, remaining outside, while permeate is withdrawn from the inside of the fibers.
