IDEXX Laboratories Inc., of Portland, Maine, received U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) approval for its SimPlate® for HPC, the unique testing method for detecting heterotrophic plate count (HPC) bacteria in water. The USEPA is responsible for researching and setting national standards for the protection of human health and the natural environment. The approval will enable the company to promote the product as a validated HPC testing method to its customers worldwide.
