Samsung Electronics has introduced the worlds first washing machine to employ advanced SilverCare” Technology. The new front-loading washer uses silver ions in the wash and rinse cycles to kill 99.9 percent of tested bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 6538 and Escherichia coli ATCC 25922 and two fungi, Aspergillus niger ATCC 6275 and Penicillium citrinum ATCC 9849) and to sanitize laundry, all in cold water without the use of bleach. Metallic silver atoms, electrolytically stripped of an electron, are injected during the wash and rinse cycles, allowing over 100 quadrillion silver ions to penetrate deep into the fabric. The SilverCare sanitization process provides a 92-percent energy savings over hot water sanitization. The machine design includes a slanted drum and a child lock safety feature. MyCycle allows the user to customize and store options. An algorithm interface for optimal temperature selection and load timing is included in the control panel, which features graphic displays.
