Desalination

Most often refers to the removal of salt from brackish or ocean water to produce drinking water, using various techniques. Generally speaking, desalination is the removal of dissolved inorganic solids (salts) from any solution (including water) to make it free of dissolved salts via reverse osmosis, distillation, or electrodialysis.
