The U.S Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is now taking action under Administrator Regan’s PFAS Strategic Roadmap in order to protect people and communities from the health risks associated with PFAS. The EPA has proposed that two of the more widely used PFAS be designated as hazardous substances under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act. The passing of this rule would aid in increasing transparency around releases of these harmful chemicals. This proposal will apply specifically to perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and perfluorooctanesulfonic acid (PFOS).
