The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO) is seeking volunteers to participate on the technical committee working toward the development of the 2020 edition of the Water Efficiency and Sanitation Standard (WE•Stand). IAPMO will publish the first edition in 2017, the first-ever ANSI standard that focuses solely on achieving safer and more efficient water use in both residential and non-residential buildings. On October 24-25, IAPMO will host Technical Committee Meetings toward the ANSI-accredited consensus development of the 2018 editions of the Uniform Solar Energy and Hydronics Code (USEHC) and Uniform Swimming Pool, Spa and Hot Tub Code (USPSHTC). The technical committees, consisting of a broad coalition of industry experts — installers, inspection officials, contractors, engineers, and manufacturers — will consider public comments to amend the USEHC and USPSHTC in advance of the release of the 2018 editions. IAPMO announced that its Backflow Prevention Institute will launch a new e-magazine, Backflow Prevention Journal, in January 2018. It will replace Backflow Prevention & Plumbing Standards magazine, which will cease publication at the end of the year. With a digital format, the bimonthly journal will contain articles from many of the same writers as BPPS and retain such regular columns as Inside the Industry, Repair Guys and Test Your Skills.
