Corrosive groundwater, if untreated, can dissolve lead and other metals from pipes and plumbing fixtures. This is according to the US Geological Survey study released nationwide on July 13 that ranks states’ potential for having corrosive groundwater.
The USGS explained how data from more than 20,000 wells was used to determine the potential for corrosivity in untreated groundwater. Corrosive groundwater, if untreated, can dissolve lead and other metals from pipes and plumbing fixtures.
