The American Water Works Association announced that registration is open for the 2017 International Symposium on Inorganics, to be held March 21 and 22 in Detroit. In response to recent events in Flint, MI, the symposium will focus on lead and corrosion control, risk communications, best practices for sampling and controlling lead release in distribution systems and regulatory updates for the US and Canada. Featured researchers and speakers will include:
- Health Canada’s Head, Materials and Treatment Section, Water and Air Quality Bureau France Lemieux, who will share updates on the proposed updated guideline for Canadian drinking water quality
- AWWA’s Director of Federal Relations Steve Via, who will provide an update on the US regulatory landscape
- Dr. Mona Hanna-Attisha of Hurley Medical Center’s pediatric residents program and professor of pediatrics and human development at Michigan State University’s Flint-based College of Human Medicine
