The new tradeshow Floodex Europe will be launched alongside Aquatech during the Amsterdam International Water Week later this year at RAI Amsterdam. The show is to focus on equipment, solutions and opportunities around preventing and dealing with flooding. Floodex Europe will connect leading suppliers and high quality international visitors from business and government in this booming sector.
The importance of flood control. Urbanization is increasing and climate change is bringing more intense rainfall. Such factors mean flooding is on the agenda around the world, not least in Europe. The launch of Floodex Europe fulfills a growing need for equipment, solutions and products to deal with this threat. This first show (October 31 – November 1) will cover key market segments such as flood mitigation, disaster recovery, flood protection from excessive rainfall, and surface water management in rural, urban and coastal areas. Visitors are expected to originate from local, regional and central government, water management associations, regional flood and coast authority, property development, civil or structural engineering, contractor/construction, water authority, agriculture, business and industry.
Covering all water related issues. Floodex Europe will be held alongside the 26th Aquatech Amsterdam exhibition, expanding the overall floor space with the addition of an extra hall. “Aquatech Amsterdam has been giving increasing attention to the vital area of flood control in recent editions,” says Annette Bos, show director of Aquatech Global Events with RAI Amsterdam. “The launch of Floodex Europe with our partner Indigo will take the opportunity for participants to do business around this critical issue to a whole new level. It’s an exciting development for us.”
Building on UK success. The new event is being organized jointly by Aquatech global water sector exhibition series organizer RAI Amsterdam and Indigo Media & Events, who successfully held the first Floodex UK event in May last year in close cooperation with the Association of Drainage Authorities (ADA). Jon Irwin, Event Director of Floodex UK, said, “We are delighted to have partnered up with RAI to take the Floodex concept to a new level. With 70 percent of flooding caused by surface water and growing urbanization, the challenges that face us in terms of water level management and flood mitigation are only going to grow.” He went on to say, “Bringing together the key stakeholders that are working to implement practical and sustainable solutions to increase positive outcomes for communities at risk is what Floodex is about. I’m confident that Floodex Europe will deliver on that front.”
Part of Amsterdam International Water Week. The new exhibition also contributes to an even stronger overall AIWW offering of a full range of water related events in the same week. This fourth edition focuses on building a circular economy and resilience in cities, utilities and industries. “It is great to welcome Floodex Europe to the Amsterdam International Water Week. The combination of Floodex Europe and Aquatech means that the innovative solutions on show cover a wide range of water issues, just as the AIWW conference does. Reaching across silos and sectors leads to new inspiration and new solutions,” says Lennart Silvis, Chair of the Managing Board of AIWW.
Supported by Association of Drainage Authorities (ADA). Innes Thomson, Chief Executive of ADA and Floodex UK’s partner organization added “Floodex UK has shown the tangible benefits of bringing the various parts of the drainage, water level and flood risk management industry together in one place to share operational knowledge, explore innovation and develop working relationships across the various businesses and agencies and authorities involved. Members of the European Union of Water Management Associations (EUWMA) who attended Floodex UK’s event in 2016 took away a hugely positive professional and commercial atmosphere from their visit which I am sure they will help recreate in the first Floodex Europe event.”
