In November, the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO) Standards Council issued four tentative interim amendments (TIA) revising the 2018 edition of the Uniform Mechanical Code (UMC). These TIAs were balloted through the UMC Technical Committee, in accordance with the Regulations Governing Committee Projects, to determine if there existed the necessary three-fourths majority support on technical merit and emergency nature to establish the recommendation for issuance. On December 12, IAPMO joined with the Jordanian National Building Council (JNBC), Water Authority of Jordan (WAJ) and Jordan Standards and Metrology Organization (JSMO) in signing an MOU to enhance water/sanitation infrastructure in the kingdom through the continued development and enforcement of plumbing codes and standards. IAPMO announced the release of the 2018 edition of the National Standard Plumbing Code Illustrated (NSPC). This newly updated edition of the code, the first to be published by IAPMO, can be purchased via the IAPMO web store. Read more here.
The China IAPMO R&T Lab has become the first China-based testing laboratory to be accredited by ema (Entidad Mexicana de Acreditación, A.C.) for several categories of plumbing products. The China IAPMO R&T Lab is now accredited to test water closets, fill and flush valves and showerheads, as well as other plumbing products, to various NOM and NMX standards.
