Volunteers Sought for Standard Development Group

“The Water Quality Association (WQA) is seeking volunteers to help write environmental criteria for expanding Sustainable Drinking Water Treatment Systems product certification standards. WQA and the American Society of Plumbing Engineers (ASPE) are preparing to expand the scope of the WQA/ASPE/ANSI S-803 (2017): Sustainable Drinking Water Treatment Systems standard to include reverse osmosis (RO) systems and membrane components,” said Stuart Mann, WQA Sustainability Certification Manager.

S-803 currently covers various types of inline filters (including activated carbon), as well as ultraviolet (UV) systems, coolers/heaters/dispensers, softeners and other system types that incorporate ion exchange media, Mann said. “So, the addition of membrane/RO product technologies is the next natural step in the evolution of this ground-breaking eco-labeling standard for the water treatment industry,” he said. Anyone interested in joining the WQA’s Standard Development Working Group for membranes/RO systems is encouraged to contact Mann at smann@wqa.org or (630) 929-2546.
