The International Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Foundation (IWSH), in collaboration with PT. IAPMO Group Indonesia and the World Plumbing Council, has facilitated completion of the third international Community Plumbing Challenge (CPC2017), bringing improved drinking water and sanitation facilities to a public elementary school in Indonesia. CPC2017 was delivered across three separate projects between August 2017 and March 2018: Design Week, Construction Week Phase One and Construction Week Phase Two, also known as the Legacy Project. IAPMO participated the US Commerce Department’s (DOC) International Trade Association’s (ITA) inaugural Standards Summit at the offices of C&M International in Washington, DC. Via this two-day event, the ITA hopes to gain insight from companies, private sector organizations and trade-related associations regarding standards, conformity assessment and regulatory trends/challenges in foreign markets and the assistance they require from ITA to effectively address standards-related trade barriers/trends to take advantage of export opportunities. In what represents a landmark victory for IAPMO and numerous industry partners who have worked diligently to promote the program’s myriad benefits, Congress will vote on a massive spending bill that will ensure US EPA’s WaterSense program is funded for the remainder of fiscal year 2018. The omnibus spending bill includes language stipulating that US EPA “maintains funding for the WaterSense program at the fiscal year 2017 level.” IAPMO has maintained fierce support of WaterSense for more than a decade. IAPMO has posted for online download the 2018 Report on Comments(ROC) for the 2018 editions of the the Uniform Solar, Hydronics and Geothermal Code (USHGCTM) and Uniform Swimming Pool, Spa and Hot Tub Code (USPSHTCTM) American National Standard designated model codes. The ROC is the technical committee report on the actions taken by the technical committee accompanied by a ballot statement and one or more comments resulting from public review of the Report on Proposals (ROP).
