2021 Technical Committee Meetings Go Virtual
As a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the IAPMO® Board of Directors has determined this year the Spring Technical Committee Meetings will be held as two week-long virtual events. TIA UPC 001-21 Issued
The IAPMO Standards Council on December 18 issued one tentative interim amendment (TIA) affecting the 2021 edition of the Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC ®). TIA UPC 001-21 added text in UPC Table 603.2 pertaining to the installation of atmospheric vacuum breakers. Click here for the full release.
TIA Available for Public Comment
In accordance with the IAPMO Regulations Governing Committee Projects, IAPMO announces a tentative interim amendment (TIA) to the 2021 edition of the Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC) has been submitted for public comment. TIA UPC 002-21 revises text in UPC Table 1701.1 (Referenced Standards).
IAPMO invites all interested parties to review the proposed TIA on the IAPMO website under Uniform Plumbing Code/Proposed TIAs and respond by filling out the comment form. The deadline to submit comments is February 22. Completed forms for the UPC may be emailed to Enrique Gonzalez, plumbing code development administrator, at [email protected].
National Apprenticeship Act
IAPMO, the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States, Canada (UA), the Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors-National Association (PHCC) and Plumbing Manufacturers International (PMI) applaud the House of Representatives for bipartisan passage of the National Apprenticeship Act of 2021 (HR 447) and strongly encourage the Senate to approve it as well. The bill seeks to reauthorize the 1937 National Apprenticeship Act, which established the registered apprenticeship system, for the first time since its inception 84 years ago.
