Screw feeder

Wednesday, January 15th, 2020

The VMF-90D volumetric screw feeder from Scaletron Industries is an automatic, metering screw-feed system for mixing and dispensing dry materials into a secondary process. Functionality that previously was available only as options is included, resulting in a feeder that is operationally robust, versatile and installs quickly into a wide range of additive metering systems. Made of rugged, corrosion-resistant stainless steel, the feeder is designed for use in water, wastewater and chemical processing applications. It dispenses at feed rates of 0.77 to 7.73 cubic feet per hour, with accuracy to within 1.0 percent of volume. The built-in, 1.5 cubic foot, gravity-fed hopper is fed via a stainless steel, 1.5-inch (38.1-mm) diameter, open helix feed-screw. The hopper features a maintenance access hatch and an integrated load-cell attachment point.

Tubing removal guide

Wednesday, January 15th, 2020

Beswick’s How to install and remove polyurethane tubing when using barbed-style fittings product guide is now available. The removal technique is particularly clever and a video tutorial is also available (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bK9y3wKkB60). The guide is designed for anyone (for example, an assembler, a technician, an engineer, a hobbyist or a homeowner) who has to install and/or remove soft tubing (usually polyurethane but also for other tubing materials) onto a barbed-style fitting. The written instructions and the video both explain each step of the process.

Floating baffles

Sunday, December 15th, 2019

Environetics Inc.’s Director I floating baffles significantly improve wastewater treatment lagoon efficiency. Enhanced hydraulic flow patterns increase effective treatment area from less than 20 to over 95 percent of the lagoon. Extending treatment time significantly reduces BOD and TSS, improves aeration and allows contaminants and solids to settle. The floating baffle is designed to improve flow diversion, increase retention time and provide improved bottom anchoring and prevent short-circuiting in treatment lagoons in wastewater applications.
