North America: Voltea success in Canada

Voltea announced the successful installation of its membrane Capacitive Deionization (CapDI©) system on location in Canada, to help meet new governmental regulations on manganese levels in municipal water. Currently, Toronto groundwater contains manganese levels in the 150- to 200-ppb range. New regulations require that wastewater going into municipal water treatment plants cannot have manganese present above 50 ppb.

North America: Water Well Trust well program expanded

The Water Well Trust (WWT) announced it has expanded from 10 to 12 Georgia counties eligible to receive assistance for drilling a new water well or rehabilitate an existing well. The trust has limited funds available for low-interest loans to eligible households. WWT limits funding to a maximum of $11,000 per household. The deadline to apply for the program is September 30. North America: Mag-Plastic US office closed

The Cincinnati, OH office that supplied parts for the MAG-Plastic® blow molding machines has been closed. Amsler Equipment Inc. has provided service for MAG-Plastic machines since 2014 via a partnership with AISA Inc. Its service department continues to provide assistance for SSB-02, SSB-03, SSB-20 and SSB-20HP blow molding machines and spare parts continue to be available through AISA Inc.’s subsidiary located in India. Amsler will continue to act as a liaison and assist with parts sourcing and manufacturing of new parts when needed.

North America: AquiSense certification announced

AquiSense Technologies has been certified by WQA for its PearlAqua water disinfection system. It meets the stringent requirements of NSF/ANSI 372, which is accreditation for the scope of providing lead-free water and NSF/ANSI 61, which certifies it for safe drinking water.

North America: IDE named to smart company list

IDE Technologies was named No. 19 on the 2016 MIT Technology Review’s list of the 50 Smartest Companies. This is the second consecutive year the company has been recognized among the top 20, an achievement that further highlights its expertise as a trailblazer in this industry. IDE received the recognition for reactivating the desalination plant in Santa Barbara, CA, which will produce 30 percent of Santa Barbara’s water by October.

Foundation Finance dealers rewarded

The competition, which ran from February 1 through April 30, offered dealers several ways to qualify to win: overall funded volume, funding percentage and random chance based on earning entries for each loan funded. The trip treated dealers to a luxury stay at San Juan’s Condado Plaza Hilton, a tour of historic San Juan, zip-lining and hiking in El Yunque Rainforest, swimming at La Coca Waterfall, a visit to the Bacardi Rum Distillery, a trip to the Caguas botanical gardens, sailing, snorkeling and more.

North America: Hach to expand with new facility

Hach will officially break ground on a new multimillion-dollar R&D facility south of its existing two-building campus. The new 86,000-square-foot facility will house state-of-the-art work spaces for the company’s research and development teams, with multiple testing and development laboratories.

North America: NSF, ASHRAE agreement announced

NSF International and ASHRAE have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) dedicated to protecting public health by establishing safe management practices for building water systems. These systems include cooling towers, air conditioning units for large buildings, hot tubs, large complex water systems (hotels, hospitals, cruise ships and institutions) and decorative fountains, which can be attributed to public health concerns such as Legionella. Under the terms of the MOU, NSF will provide its 70-plus years of water industry expertise and ASHRAE will leverage its building systems expertise to jointly develop NSF 444: Prevention of Injury and Disease Associated with Building Water Systems. This new standard will address concerns such as legionellosis, which according to the CDC is on the rise. The CDC estimates that between 8,000 and 18,000 people are hospitalized with Legionnaires’ disease in the US each year.

North America: Hydrotech grand opening celebrated

North America: Hankscraft certification

Hankscraft, Inc. has earned certification to NSF/ANSI 58 for its Bluefilters, models RO-6-BF and RO-6-BF-NF. The systems are now certified to remove lead and other contaminants from drinking water.
