APWA Members Select 2022-2023 President-Elect and Three New Board Members

     

The American Public Works Association (APWA) membership has confirmed the selection of the 2022-2023 President-Elect, as well as three new board members. Serving as the new President-Elect and joining the APWA Executive Committee is Gary Losier, P.Eng., PWLF. The new board members includes Jeffery P. Brown, P.E., serving as the Director of Region III; Robert Garland, P.E., PG, DBIA, ENV SP, PWLF, serving as the Director of Region IV; Richard J. Benevento will be filling the role of Region I Director. All four members will take office on August 28 during APWA’s annual Public Works Expo in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Tom Dobbins, CAE, Takes the Helm at AMWA
The Association of Metropolitan Water Agencies (AMWA) has named Tom Dobbins as its new CEO. Dobbins is in experienced association executive and previously served as CEO of the Aluminum Association of the American Composites Manufacturers Association and also led the government affairs program at the American Council of Engineering Companies. Dobbins also held senior roles on Capitol Hill and in the executive branch. In his previous positions, Dobbins was instrumental in leading organizational growth, and he worked with Congress to pass several infrastructure laws.

Michael Sadar Honored with Top Annual Award from ASTM International
Michael Sadar was presented with ASTM International’s top annual award, the Award of Merit, for his contributions to ASTM’s committee on water. This award, accompanied by the title of fellow, is ASTM’s highest recognition for distinguished service and outstanding participation in ASTM International committee activities. Sadar has served as an ASTM chair for both a subcommittee and a committee. That along with his ongoing support of ASTM’s members and his representation of ASTM’s standards within the scientific community earned him this recognition.

D.J. Nunez Promoted to IAPMO Executive Vice President of Field Services
The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO) has promoted D.J. Nunez to Executive Vice President of Field Services. Nunez has 38 years of experience in the plumbing and mechanical industry and was hired by IAPMO as a Field Service representative in January 2020. Nunez has also served on IAPMO’s Board of Directors for 13 years and held the position of president in 2017 and 2018.

WQA’s Jonathan Adams Earns CAE Designation, Named to Diversity Leadership Program
WQA Information Technology Director Jonathan Adams has earned a Certified Association
Executive (CAE) designation from the American Society of Association Executives, the highest professional credential in the association industry. ASAE also named Adams as one of 12 scholars in its 2022-2024 Diversity Executive Leadership Program (DELP). DELP is an accelerated leadership program to support people from under-represented groups to advance into association leadership. Adams holds a Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems from Eastern Illinois University and an MBA from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
