ASTM International’s committee on water (D19) presented its top annual award (the Award of Merit) to William C. Lipps, Environmental/Geochemical Marketing Manager at Shimadzu Scientific Instruments Inc., Columbia, MD. The prestigious award, which includes the accompanying title of Fellow, is ASTM’s highest recognition for individual contributions to developing standards. The committee honored Lipps for his exceptional dedication to preparing standards that are related to the study of water. An ASTM International member since 1986, he is the First Vice-chairman of the committee. Lipps has also previously won the committee’s Standards Development Award (2010 and 2015). In addition to ASTM, he is a member of the Society for Mining Metallurgy and Exploration Environmental Division, AWWA, WEF, The Nelac Institute, ISO and is the Standard Methods for Examination of Water and Wastewater, Part 4000 Coordinator.
