NSF promotions announced

NSF International announced the promotion of two experts in its water division. Rick Andrew shifts his role to focus on new business development opportunities for all of NSF’s water programs while Dave Purkiss will direct NSF’s Municipal Water and Drinking Water Treatment programs with management support from experienced operations managers Kelli Fleischmann and Jennifer Sharp. As former General Manager of the NSF Drinking Water Treatment Systems Certification Program, Andrew will transition into a new role as Director, Global Business Development–Water Systems, leveraging his nearly 14 years of experience at NSF managing certification for POU/POE manufacturers. He will oversee business development for all NSF’s water product certification programs, while continuing to support the POU/POE community by participating in trade association activities and other events. Andrew earned a Master’s Degree in business administration and a Bachelor’s Degree in chemistry, both from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor.

 Purkiss has managed NSF’s water treatment and distribution programs and worked at NSF for the past 25 years, including four years with WRc-NSF in the UK, which provides testing for water fittings and materials. He will expand his current role to include drinking water treatment units, as well as drinking water treatment chemicals, system components and recreational water products. Purkiss earned a Bachelor’s Degree in biochemistry from Michigan State University. Jennifer Sharp and Kelli Fleischmann, each 10-year veterans in NSF’s Water Division, have been promoted to Operations Managers. Both will support clients in the drinking water treatment unit industry by providing service solutions and access to new markets. Blake Stark, currently Business Unit Manager for NSF/ANSI Standard 60: Drinking Water Treatment Chemicals–Health Effects, will manage NSF International’s Recreational Water Program, which tests and certifies pool and spa products used in commercial and residential water facilities.

Musiak named KMS Commercial Director

Koch Membrane Systems, Inc. (KMS) announced Bill Musiak has joined the company as Commercial Director, Water and Wastewater for North America. Musiak will focus on growing the customer base for KMS and providing leadership for the company’s water and wastewater sales employees in the US, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean. Throughout his career, he has held positions with leading organizations, including Pentair Process Technologies (formerly Norit X-Flow), GE Water & Process Technologies, Ionics and CeraMem Separations. Musiak holds Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He will be based in KMS Global Headquarters in Wilmington, MA and can be reached at william. Sawyer appointed NSPF specialist

The National Swimming Pool Foundation® (NSPF®) announced the appointment of Christopher Sawyer to the position of Mission Development Specialist. He was recently hired to assist with the foundation’s efforts to foster education, empowering and elevating more aquatic professionals across the US. Sawyer brings 10 years of experience in the aquatic industry to this position. As holder of the Certified Pool/Spa Operator® Certification, he is qualified for and received an NSPF $1,000 (USD) scholarship in 2009. Sawyer has taught hundreds of people how to swim as an American Red Cross certified water safety instructor and also taught water fitness for over five years as a certified IFTA water fitness instructor. Sawyer graduated from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke, holding a BSBA specializing in international business with one year of exchange study in Mexico and Costa Rica. He also studied Spanish management, international finance, sustainable development and world geopolitics.

Mallios promoted at ClearWater Tech

ClearWater Tech has named Skip Mallios as the new Regional Sales Manager for the eastern division. The 30-year industry veteran will be working with ClearWater distributors east of the Mississippi River on direct sales of EcoTex™ O3 ozone systems to commercial laundry accounts. Based in Columbia, SC, Mallios began his career in the laundry business as a chemical sales territory manager for EcoLab. The majority of his time was spent with Texchine Incorporated, where he worked in several sales positions during two separate stints. Mallios was also a Regional Sales Manager for Cissell Dryer Corp. and most recently, in the same capacity for G.A Braun.
