Water-Right® Inc. has acquired CustomCare Water Technologies, based in Neenah, WI, which will expand Water-Right’s portfolio of water treatment products and services. Financial terms were not disclosed.
WaterGroup and Pentair Residential Filtration renewed an exclusive Fleck valve distribution agreement for the Canadian marketplace through 2016. Homes for Our Troops donation news
On December 12, The LeverEdge and ISPC made a donation to Homes for Our Troops in the name of Marine Corporal Justin Gaertner, to help build him a specially adapted new home. Gaertner was left a double amputee after being caught in an IED blast while on routine patrol in Afghanistan in late 2010. Flomatic acquired by Boshart
Boshart Industries has completed the acquisition of Flomatic Corporation in a share purchase transaction from Watts Water Technologies, Inc. The sale excludes the backflow product line of Flomatic Corporation, which was retained by Watts. Flomatic is a ISO 9001 and ISO 1400-certified company with comprehensive manufacturing processes with ARRAcompliant and lead-free products. Boshart Industries has been in business for over 55 years, supplying the North America plumbing and water well markets.
PWQA scholarships available
The Pacific Water Quality Association announced it is offering two scholarships. The first is the PWQA Member Company Scholarship $1,000, which will be awarded to an individual employed by a PWQA member company or related to an individual employed by a PWQA member company. Said member company must be a PWQA Member is good standing, which is defined as current on membership dues. The second award, Major of Study Related to Potable Water Quality $1,000, will be awarded to an individual pursuing a major that supports potable water quality. All applications and required materials must be received at the PWQA office no later than April 1. Water Doctor honored for service
Water Doctor has earned the serviceindustry coveted 2012 Angie’s List Super Service Award, an honor awarded annually to approximately five percent of all companies rated on Angie’s List, the nation’s leading provider of consumer reviews of local service companies. NGWA annual conference recap
The NGWA 2012 Groundwater Expo and Annual Meeting in Las Vegas, NV last December showed increases in every attendance category and once again topped 300 exhibiting firms. Total attendance of 4,357 represented all sectors of the industry: water well drillers and contractors, manufacturers and suppliers, and scientists and engineers. All 50 states were represented, along with Washington, DC, Puerto Rico and the Northern Mariana Islands. In addition, 32 other nations attended, including Australia, Canada, Italy, Mexico and South Korea. There were 309 exhibiting companies, which tied for the sixth-highest number ever at the Expo Water Conditioning & Purification February 2013 Global Spotlight and included 31 first-timers and 90 new products. The Expo also offered 70-plus hours of educational programming, covering topics ranging from different types of drilling methods to water well rehabilitation and maintenance, and groundwater supply and groundwater quality to business management and geothermal operations.
Pool industry award winners named
From a selection of more than 96 products displayed in the Product Showcase at the 2012 International Pool | Spa | Patio Expo (PSP), a panel of industry experts awarded Best New Product and Best Green Product to first, second and third place winners. Aqua Sun Ozone, Palm Springs, CA, was awarded Best New Product for its Savior™ 5000 floating, submersible, portable, solar pool pump and filtration system. Capturing second place was Solaxx, Delray Beach, FL, for its Harmony and Salt Dip water treatment solution. NSF piping standard published
NSF International has published the first in a series of American National Standards for Ground-Source Geothermal Piping Systems NSF/ANSI 358-1: Polyethylene Pipe and Fittings for Water-Based Ground-Source “Geothermal” Heat Pump Systems. This new standard, which will be referenced in the 2015 International Mechanical Code, provides engineers, regulators and users assurance that certified geothermal products meet minimum performance and safety requirements, reducing potential liability and increasing confidence and product acceptance in the marketplace. The standard establishes minimum physical and performance requirements for geothermal piping system components, including long-term strength and quality-control requirements that are key to ensuring product performance in the field. Additionally, it incorporates key requirements from standards developed by the American Society for Testing and Materials, Canadian Standards Association and the American Water Works Association.
NSPF training approved in Canada
The Government of Alberta, Canada has approved the Certified Pool/Spa Operator® (CPO®) Certification as one of the courses available to educate pool operators in its region. The National Swimming Pool Foundation® recently received approval to offer pool operator education under the Alberta Pool Standards 2006 under the Swimming Pool, Wading Pool and Water Spray Park Regulation. The Ministry of Health, Government of Alberta, issued formal recognition to the foundation as an organization that can offer the course and provide training materials. The training will be based on the Certified Pool/Spa Operator (CPO) Certification course, and corresponding course materials. Additionally, the NSPF Pool & Spa Operator™ Handbook will be utilized in the training.
WaterGroup operations expanded and decentralized
WaterGroup has made a strategic business decision to centralize and expand its manufacturing, assembly and distribution centers. Canadian operations will remain in Calgary, Alberta and Cambridge, Ontario, with US operations in Fridley, MN and Libertyville, IL. This decision will better serve WaterGroup’s customers by improving just-in-time delivery throughout Canada and provide additional support for US and international business expansion. WaterGroup will close its manufacturing plant in Regina, Saskatchewan by September 2013 and will be hiring additional staff in the expanding Calgary and Cambridge facilities.

Envirogen joint venture launched
Envirogen Technologies, Inc., in a joint venture with Shikun & Binui Water Ltd., has been selected to perform a pilotscale demonstration of its fluidized-bed bioreactor (FBR) technology for the remediation of perchlorate-laden groundwater in the Israeli city of Ramat Ha’Sharon. The pilot is aimed at demonstrating the FBR’s efficacy for removing high levels of perchlorate along with nitrates, RDX and chromates from contaminated groundwater at the site, which would lead to the development of a full-scale treatment system that would be one of the largest perchlorate treatment installations in the world at a site that is destined for residential development.

Supply agreements for HaloKlear announced
HaloSource has signed a supply agreement with Enviroclin Bio Solutions of Malaysia to market and sell its unique HaloKlear® dry-blend concentrates for water remediation application in Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Brunei. HaloSource has granted Enviroclin Bio Solutions the exclusive right to offer its technology for resale, distribution and application in construction, dredging, oil and gas, industrial, mining, erosion control prevention and most significantly, municipal water treatment systems, which represents a first for HaloKlear products. Continued exclusivity will be subject to Enviroclin achieving minimum ordering quantities representing approximately $300,000 (USD) in revenue for HaloSource.
