Bailey appointed at CPC
Scott Bailey joined Chester Paul Company as Vice President of Sales and Marketing for the company’s new Linis™ water purification systems division. Previously, he was Vice President of Marketing at PSHI Pure Water Technology®, driving the company’s sales through creation of product brands, dealer programs, regional sales manager programs, websites, advertising campaigns, print collaterals, web- sites and animated sales videos. Bailey’s business talents include past ownership of a printing company, financial services, art direction and e-commerce development.
Potwora elected Vice Chairman of ASTM Committee
Robert Potwora, Technical Director of Carbon Resources, was named Vice Chairman of ASTM International D-28 Committee for a two-year term. The committee is responsible for the development of definitions of terms and nomenclature, methods of test for activated carbon and the promotion of research in this field. It oversees five subcommittees; liquid-phase tests, gas-phase tests, nomenclature, long-range planning and executive. Currently, 28 standards are under the jurisdiction of this committee and it is working on new standards for floaters in activated carbons, vapor pressure drop through activated carbons and adsorptive capacity for mercury in flue gas.
Abboud named to WWEMA board
Nadia Abboud, Marketing Manager, Water Purification for Severn Trent Services, has been elected to a three-year term on the Board of Directors of the Water and Wastewater Equipment Manufacturers Association (WWEMA). She will be eligible for a second, three-year term in 2013. Abboud, an eight-year veteran of the water and wastewater industry, has been widely published in the industry. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in management, with concentrations in international business and Arab and Islamic studies from Villanova University.
Hague appointments announced
Hague Quality Water International recently appointed Brad Bremer and Mark Ruhstorfer, CWS-1, with a combined sixty-plus years of experience, to Regional Manager positions. They will oversee Hague’s dealer networks in the Great Plains and New England regions, respectively. Bremer’s extensive background in corporate sales management and sales training will be an indispensable asset for increasing regional sales. Ruhstorfer has been a successful Territory Manager for several years.
Furakawa appointed Tech Support Manager
Professional Water Technologies recently named Ryan Furukawa Technical Support Manager. Prior to joining the PWT team, Furukawa was Technical Support Group Leader for Hydranautics, supporting the membrane manufacturer’s technical analyses as well as troubleshooting plants in the field. He has authored several technical papers related to membrane processes and has first-hand operational experience. Furukawa‘s primary responsibilities at PWT include on-site technical support for PWT’s client base, leading the MF/UF investigative effort for PWT’s Membrane Forensics group and assisting in PWT’s ongoing R&D efforts. Vanhove promoted at GE Water
Andre Vanhove has been promoted to Global HPI Product Applications Leader, GE Water. In his new role, he will lead this team and work with product marketing and product management to grow the HPI business. Vanhove’s previous experience includes production and operations at a petrochemical plant and Process Engineer at a refinery in Antwerp. He has authored several technical papers on vis-breaker technology and crude unit antifoulants and is the co-inventor of the Visbreaker patent.
Jeffryes named Rotobrush CEO
Rotobrush® International LLC announced Lane Jeffryes, a 15-year Lennox veteran, as its new CEO and President. During his tenure at Lennox, Jeffryes was integral to various leadership and business development roles, both regionally and throughout North America. He brings expertise in management, sales and marketing from manufacturer, distributor and dealer perspectives. Jeffryes’ past experience includes running his own business, serving as CEO and President of Sub-Zero Freezer Co.-South Central, Inc., and as COO and President of PIN Incorporated, a world-wide manufacturer, where he developed and launched a new product line, a new business model and led the company’s Green 100 certification.
Teledyne joined by Ybanez
Teledyne Tekmar Company appointed Jess Ybanez as Sales Representative to help build, maintain and strengthen its relationships with customers. He will be responsible for representing the company to customers in the California and Nevada regions Ybanez brings a strong engineering and account management background to the firm. Previously, he held positions with GE, Emerson Electric and Danaher. Ybanez holds a BS Degree in mechanical engineering from the University of San Carlos and an MBA in business management from National University in San Diego, California.
Industry expert passes
Ion exchange expert Francis X. ‘Frank’ McGarvey died Jan. 20 at the age of 90. He was born in Kingston, NY and attended a one-room schoolhouse there. McGarvey went on to serve in the US Army, working on the Manhattan Project. He earned his Masters Degree from University of Pennsylvania and worked as a chemical engineer for Rohm and Haas and, later, Sybron Chemical. McGarvey published many industry articles and was a member of several professional associations, including the American Chemical Society. Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Grace; son Frank and daughters, Patricia, Ellen and Debra; seven grandchildren, Lisa, Chrisie, Scott, Kelli, Stacy, Sean and Ian and three great-grandchildren and his dog Buttons. Funeral services were held Jan. 23. The family requests donations to the charity of your choice.
