Stephanie Ogden was named the first Water For People Fellow recently. She has six years of field experience in the areas of water, sanitation and health, including time as director of a small nonprofit in El Salvador. Ogden completed her Master’s Degree in environmental policy from Oregon State University, with a focus on water policy. The one-year fellowship term will begin January 2, 2010. Ogden will work out of Water For People’s headquarters in Denver, CO and in Logan, UT, with two extensive trips into the field.
Oliver named President
Hanish LLC CEO Chris Hanish announced the appointment of Neil A. Oliver as President of Aquacore Ultrafiltration Division of Hanish LLC. The new division will share its current manufacturing facility in Elburn, IL with the Hanish Water Division, a manufacturer and distributor of residential POE systems. According to Hanish, Oliver was the perfect choice to head this new division because of his vast experience in UF and his knowledge of its broad application potential in residential, commercial and light industrial markets. Oliver has been involved in the product development, marketing and sales of the Aquacore product line since it became available in late 2005.
New R&D VP at Kinetico
Kinetico Incorporated appointed 20-year veteran Jerome Kovach to Vice President, Research and Development. He was actively involved in the initiation, development and release of Hydrus, Kinetico’s line of commercial softening and filtration valves and systems. Kovach received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in biochemistry from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio and his MBA with a focus on international marketing from Case’s Weatherhead School of Management. He has also been invited to speak at the Water Quality Association’s annual convention on several occasions.
Brown elected to MIOX Board
Douglas Brown, currently Lead Director of California Water Service has been elected to MIOX’s Board of Directors. The Dean, Anderson School of Management, University of New Mexico and a principal of Brown and Brown Ventures, LLC has served as Director for 14 for-profit companies in commercial and mortgage banking, land development, insurance brokerage, utility and internet companies. Brown is a graduate of Stanford University, where he earned his AB and MBA.
Potwora to join standards committee
Robert Potwora, a 30-year industry veteran and Technical Director of Carbon Resources, was appointed as a voting producer member of the AWWA Standards Committee on Activated Carbon in August. This committee develops and maintains standards, manuals and reports on adsorptive characteristics of activated carbon for potable water treatment. It has responsibility over the current B600-05 Powdered Activated Carbon, B604-05 Granular Activated Carbon and B605-07 Reactivation of Granular Activated Carbon AWWA standards.
Ross named JG Sales Manager
John Guest USA, Inc, appointed Steven D. Ross as National Sales Manager for its Plumbing and Industrial Division. Ross is a plumbing industry professional with over 25 years of management experience working through a network of manufacturers’ reps and direct industrial distribution.
