Deems appointed to Nelsen management team

Nelsen Corporation announced Rick Deems has joined the company as Regional Territory Manager. His primary responsibility is to develop the Dealer Network in Michigan, Ohio and Indiana. Deems brings over 30 years of experience in the water treatment industry with varying roles, most recently as Regional Sales Manager. Terry named Intermountain Coordinator 

Alisa Terry, a 20-year veteran of Intermountain Soft Water, has been appointed Customer Care Coordinator. She will be responsible for coordinating all customer care issues for end-users and resellers within the continental US. Terry will liaise directly with executive management, using cutting-edge CRM and data mining technologies to continuously monitor customer satisfaction and develop an understanding customers needs. Terry’s previous company experience includes all aspects of a traditional water dealership, including scheduling, dispatch, financing, customer support, diagnostics and troubleshooting and office management.

Severn Trent managers named 

Severn Trent Services appointed Will Li to Operations Manager in the company’s China unit (Severn Trent Water Technologies Co., Ltd.) in Shanghai, responsible for overall operations in the Shanghai office. Li brings 15 years of experience in the industrial and municipal wastewater markets with expertise in engineering, project management and company operations. Fluent in Chinese and English, he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in environmental engineering from Wuhan Institute of Urban Construction in Wuhan, China and a Master’s Degree in applied science from Carleton University, Ottawa, Canada.

William Burroughs was named Manager of the company’s BALPURE® ballast water treatment product line with responsibilities that include planning, organizing, integrating and expanding the line. The former US Navy lieutenant in the submarine force spent more than 25 years in positions of increasing responsibility in engineering management, project management, industrial design, construction supervision and project engineering. Burroughs earned a Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Auburn University and has an extensive educational background in nuclear engineering.

Mazzei promotions announced

The Mazzei Injector Company, LLC named Celia Mazzei Director of Research and Development and Richard Fanucchi as Production Manager. Mazzei joined the company in 2005, with myriad marketing, sales and product testing responsibilities. In her new position, she will head new product research, patents and intellectual property stewardship, as well as continue product testing and validation and sales support. Nine-year company veteran Fanucchi will be responsible for all equipment Bill of Materials, purchasing, pricing, vendor management, quality control, equipment assembly and warehouse functions.  He will also continue to oversee the company’s IT functions. 

Pump specialist McDermott passes

Thomas A. McDermott, Sr., Chairman of the Board of the A.I. McDermott Company, Oshkosh, WI passed away peacefully at his home in Oshkosh on July 17. He was born in Mankato, MN in 1932.

After graduating from the University of Notre Dame and serving in the Marine Corps, he joined the A.I. McDermott Company – or McDermott Pumps as it came to be more commonly known – in 1956. He held numerous positions within the company, eventually becoming President and Chairman.

During McDermott’s tenure, the company expanded into plumbing and heating, expanded geographically to five locations, introduced a do-it-yourself store marketing program for plumbers, pioneered private-label programs with water heaters, pumps and water conditioning equipment and created a dealer catalog which has been published at least annually since 1964 (currently published three times per year.)

As an active member in state and national industry associations, McDermott chaired or served on the boards of Wisconsin Pump & Well Suppliers, National Ground Water Association’s Suppliers’ Division, American Supply Association’s Government Affairs Committee and many other organizations dedicated to the professional development.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Helen Macke McDermott, four sons, two sisters, one brother-in-law and many nieces and nephews. Memorials may be sent to the Oshkosh Unified Catholic Schools, the Boys and Girls Club of Oshkosh and the St. Labre Indian School of Ashland, MT (
