2009 will be a great year for WC&P and the POU-POE water treatment industry! It will mark our 50th year of publication, our Golden Anniversary, and we plan to provide some special reading for you throughout this celebration period.
The logo on each issue will be gold to promote our 50th year in publishing.
And in each issue of 2009, we will plan to run some old technical stories, and even some classic advertisements, that helped build the foundation for our industry.
We will start in January with an early editorial of founder Jerry Peterson. It sets the tone for our foundation, our expansion and our vision as an industry.
As part of the WQA History Project, we will continue to run a series of old photos that we could use your assistance in identifying. Please take a look at these images and let us know if you recognize any of the people or events.
Much of the success of WC&P throughout the years can be directly related to the peer review of articles by our esteemed Technical Review Committee. Beginning in 2009 we will introduce you more closely to these people through biographical and personal insights, highlighting one member per issue.
WC&P is honored to have been a part of the family of this industry for a number of years. And, as we likewise consider you our family, we offer you the chance to participate in this Golden Anniversary as well.
Should you have any regards or stories you would like to share with us, please forward them to my attention ([email protected]). We would like to include them in our June, 2009 special anniversary celebration issue. So drop us a line, a funny story, a special remembrance…whatever you desire. We would love to hear from you!
As we go through our archives of past issues, we are also looking to see if anyone can help us replace a few issues from the 1960s that were damaged in a water disaster years ago. If you have any old issues of our magazine stored away, and would like to share them with us, please contact Managing Editor Denise Roberts at [email protected] and she will let you know about the volumes that we are missing or need to replace.
This Golden Anniversary is as much about the individuals and companies that made this industry as it is to the publication itself. We have been closely tied to the growth and development of this industry for 50 years, and we look forward to serving all of you for many years to come.
So, when I say Happy Birthday to Us, it is intended for all of us to share in the success we have made together!
