Joseph Avilla

Josepth Avilla, a longtime member of the international water treatment community, passed away in February. He was 64. Born in Ethiopia to Italian parents, Avilla had a long career in industrial engineering and water treatment products marketing. Since 1998, he served as the International Sales Manager for ResinTech Inc., working in the same position at Sybron Chemicals Inc., for nearly a decade prior.

Penn. Water names president
Daniel Warnock has been named the new president of Pennsylvania American Water and regional managing director of American Water’s Southeast Region. He has served in a variety of executive leadership positions, including chief executive officer for United Networks LTD. In his new role, Warnock will oversee operations of the largest regulated water and waste water utility in Pennsylvania, serving more than 2 million people in 370 communities.

Promotions at MIOX Corp.
Curtis Mitchke has been appointed president of MIOX Corporation of Albuquerque, N.M. He has been working with MIOX for 13 years, most recently as vice president of finance and operations. Mitchke has also worked in sales, purchasing, customer service and engineering. Also, Rodney Herrington was promoted to executive vice president of research and engineering. Herrington was involved in the early development of the mixed-oxidant technology at MIOX’s sister company, Los Alamos Technical Associates Inc.

Curti joins Hatch Mott MacDonald
bert Curti has joined Hatch Mott MacDonald as the newest Senior Project Manager in their Millburn, N.J. office. Curti, who brings over 30 years of water and waste water consulting experience to the firm, will be responsible for a variety of consulting services in the New Jersey
Corridor, one of 30 HMM offices in North America.

Politicians receive NGWA award
United States Senator Richard Durbin (D-Ill.) and Representative Jo Ann Emerson (R-Miss.) have received the 2005 Ground Water Protector Award by the National Ground Water Association. The Award recognizes people in government, industry and the private sector for their public service efforts in conjunction with groundwater conservation, protection and use. Both Durbin and Emerson are key supporters of funding for a federal household water well system financing program and sat on their respective houses’ Agriculture Appropriations Subcommittees.

Farris joins All State
All State Tank Manufacturing LLC, of Grove, Okla., has appointed John Farris as President. Formerly Vice President and General Manager of SMC, he has more than 25 years of management experience in the bulk storage industry. Farris will be responsible for guiding all segments of the business, including engineering, sales marketing and production.
