An estimated 280 exhibitors and more than 60,000 square feet of exhibit space along with professional development opportunities are expected to draw a big crowd to the 2004 Ground Water Expo Dec. 12th through the 15th.  The event is sponsored by the National Ground Water Association.

“The Las Vegas venue for the Ground Water Expo has grown in the last several years, and we anticipate another strong turnout again this year,” said NGWA Executive Director Kevin McCray.

As the industry’s largest trade show, the expo showcases the latest equipment and technology in the water well industry. “A considerable amount of business is transacted at the Expo, both nationally and internationally,” McCray said.

According to NGWA’s 2003 Survey of the Ground Water Contracting Industry, owners and presidents of ground water firms who are active members of NGWA are likely to buy new equipment and make purchases of most types of equipment over the next year. Last year, these individuals spent nearly $240 million on equipment and products for their businesses. The survey was conducted independently by Research U.S.A.

Businesses from numerous countries will be represented at the expo including Canada, China, Germany, Italy and Spain.

Also, eight Special Interest Groups will hold sessions during the expo on the scientific, regulatory, technical and social aspects of ground water.

The Special Interest Group sessions, which are like mini-conferences with presentations and discussions directed at current issues of importance, will be conducted by the Association of Ground Water Scientists and Engineers, a division of NGWA. The sessions include the following subjects:

  • Ground water availability
  • Ground water modeling
  • Geothermal energy
  • Internet ground water data
  • Horizontal wells
  • Microbial ground water quality
  • Regulators (water well construction)
  • Wellhead protection
