Bryant now sales director
Jeff Bryant was promoted to retail director of sales at Sta-Rite Industries of Delavan, Wis., with expanded responsibilities over regional sales for all retail product lines, including Flotec, Simer and Omnifilter. Bryant joined the company as territory sales manager in 1983 and was responsible for several regions in the country before his 1993 appointment as Flotec’s Eastern regional sales manager. In 1997 he was appointed Flotec national sales manager. Bryant is credited as being a key contributor to the company’s significant growth in the retail business sector.
Hydropro picks LaMonica as new president
Hydropro Inc. of Lake Park, Fla., has appointed David LaMonica its new president. Prior to this position, LaMonica was president of the Rochem division of the Pall Corp. He has over 20 years experience in wastewater treatment and membrane technology and plans to use that expertise to expand the company into non-traditional markets.
Torfs joins Pentair group
Frank Torfs, WQA World Assembly Division’s Advisory Board chairperson, was hired as marketing manager for Pentair Group’s European business, reporting directly to Vice President Bart Van Ouytsel and based out of its Structural Group offices in Herentals, Belgium. Torfs is the former head of Kinetico Europe and prior to that was with Amway’s European office. He’s been president of Aqua Europa and Aqua Belgica and is also active in the coordination between WQA Aqua Europa and the European CEN standards writing process.
Gosma covers Northwest
Plast-O-Matic Valves Inc. of Cedar Grove, N.J., has appointed Bill Gosma to Northwest regional manager to represent its line of corrosion-resistant valves and controls in Northern California, Northern Nevada and seven other states in the Northwest. Prior to this position Gosma was with Malema Sensors, and he holds a bachelor’s degree in civil/hydraulic engineering. He resides in San Ramon, Calif.
AWRA selects Bowers
The American Water Resources Association (AWRA) has elected Janet L. Bowers association president for 2000. Bowers is executive director of the Chester County Water Resources Authority in West Chester, Pa., where she is responsible for the preparation of the county’s Water Resources Management Plan and its drought and flood warning programs. She has 17 years of environmental and engineering consulting services experience.
Aqua Care CEO resigns
William K. Mackey tendered his resignation as president and CEO of Aqua Care Systems Inc., Coral Springs, Fla., to its board of directors. He served five years in the position and is credited with the successful turnaround of the company. The board’s current chair, Norman J. Hoskin, will serve in these capacities while the company explores its options.
In separate action, the board promoted George J. Overmeyer, its current controller, to vice president of finance.
Mahmood in Who’s Who
Sultan Mahmood, chief executive of So~Safe Water Technologies of Karachi, Pakistan, was selected for the year 2000 edition of the International Who’s Who of Professionals, which highlights individuals who have positive influences on their individual professions. Mahmood founded Advanced Water Technologies in Pakistan, the Institute of Safe Water Technologies and initiated the newsletter Safian. Mahmood is also credited with being one of the pioneers for creating a basic awareness of water quality issues in his country, starting his first water organization in 1976.
Park’s Curtis now available
Park International Corp. of Long Beach, Calif., announces Bob Curtis has joined the company and will be directly responsible for sales and marketing in the North American markets. He’ll also lend support to manufacturing and engineering functions. Curtis has extensive experience with FRP pressure vessel applications, manufacturing processes and design. He’s immediately available to the company’s customer base, adding more expertise to the most experienced staff for FRP pressure tanks in the water treatment industry.
