 The National Swimming Pool Foundation® (NSPF), in partnership with inQ Mobile Apps LLC, has introduced three iPhone applications to make pool-water calculations easier and quicker for pool and spa industry professionals and consumers. App calculations match those used in the Pool & Spa Operator(TM) Handbook and the Pool Math(TM) Workbook. One calculates pool volume for different shaped pools and spas, a second calculates water flow for determining flow and turnover rates, number of turnovers and target turnover rates, and the third allows saturation index calculation to help maintain proper water balance. These apps can be used on iPhone, iPod Touch® and iPad® products and are available from the Apple® App store by clicking on the 'Productivity' tab or by searching for swimming pool.

The National Swimming Pool Foundation® (NSPF®) announces its ePro Academy" Online Training Center, an innovative web-based training center that gives anytime, anywhere access to quality, cost-effective training materials. The website provides a new avenue to obtain pool/spa operator training, pursue CPO® Certification and help busy professionals and organizations comply with government training requirements. NSPF will launch a total of 16 on-line classes through March 31, 2007. The first five regulatory compliance classes began on October 1, 2006. The new operator training and certification programs will be launched January 2007. In addition, courses on occupational safety, employment law, healthcare, environmental and hazardous waste management and DOT training for drivers of hazardous materials shipments will be offered.

 The National Swimming Pool Foundation has published the 2006 edition of its Certified Pool-Spa Operator® Handbook, featuring a host of new improvements and updates for pool operators, health officials, service technicians, retailers, property managers and manufacturers. The latest edition has added sections on UV systems, sun safety, bather load calculations and risk management. The entire handbook has been reviewed and updated to include the most recent information, such as the section on recreational water illness prevention with newly available research data. The foundation has also expanded the usefulness of the handbook by incorporating mathematical examples that use metric units in the wake of growing international interest in the publication. |
