Hubbard named Director at Canature
Jeff Hubbard has been appointed Director of Sales–US Independent Dealers at Canature WaterGroup (CWG). He has held successive sales roles at CWG, most recently serving as the Director of Commercial Business Development–US. In his new role, Hubbard will support the growth of Hydrotech water conditioning products in the US, as well as develop new opportunities to expand partnerships with independent water dealers. With 28 years of industry experience, he has an in-depth knowledge of water treatment, with a strong background in training, sales, service, application and troubleshooting. Sham named AWWA President-elect
The American Water Works Association’s Board of Directors elected Dr. Chi Ho Sham as the association’s next President-elect. VP and Chief Scientist for the Eastern Research Group, Inc., he has been an AWWA member since 1989. Sham is chair of AWWA’s Technical & Educational Council and the Stormwater Utility Management Committee, and an active member of the New England Section. He will begin his term as President-elect in June at the conclusion of AWWA’s Annual Conference & Exposition in Orlando, FL. Sham’s one-year presidential term will begin in June 2021.

Milne, Proteau promoted by ACS Publications
The American Chemical Society (ACS) has named James Milne, PhD, President of the ACS Publications Division. He has served as acting President since September 2019. Based in Oxford, UK, Milne joined ACS in 2016. In his role as President, he will oversee the publication of the society’s more than 60 peer-reviewed journals, a suite of eBooks, as well as the weekly news periodical, Chemical & Engineering News. Philip J. Proteau, PhD, of Oregon State University was named Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Natural Products. Under Proteau’s leadership, the journal will increasingly focus on significant studies on natural products biosynthesis.

Cerahelix appoints new COO
Cerahelix, Inc. welcomed William ‘Bill’ Paulus as Chief Operating Officer. He brings more than 29 years’ experience in manufacturing and global operations. Paulus will be responsible for leading all operational, developmental and manufacturing functions, while bringing the company’s flagship product through scaled manufacturing.

Thorsten, Puente keynoters for symposium
Chief Impact Officer for water.org, Dr. Richard E. Thorsten and Robert Puente, President/CEO of the San Antonio Water System, will be the keynote speakers for the seventh biennial Emerging Water Technology Symposium (EWTS), May 12-13 in San Antonio, TX. Thorsten will discuss critical roles of financing access to piped water and off-grid sanitation solutions in developing countries. He will also outline examples of partnerships that water.org has undertaken in these markets, especially connecting water utilities and product manufacturers with sources of household and enterprise financing. Before coming to SAWS as President/CEO, Puente served in the Texas House of Representatives. First elected in 1991, he was appointed to the House Natural Resources Committee, which develops water policy for the state.

WinSupply promotions announced
Winsupply Inc. announced the promotions of Eddie Gibbs to Senior VP of Vendor Relations and Amy Souders to VP of Vendor Relations. Gibbs began his career in 1971 with Hughes Supply and later joined Noland Company in 2003 (Winsupply acquired Noland in 2005). He will celebrate his 39th year in the industry next year. Souders began her career at Noland Company in 2001 in that company’s management trainee program. She became a showroom consultant before moving to Noland headquarters as a corporate showroom trainer and eventually became Corporate Showroom Manager in 2006. Souders relocated in 2008 and became Finished Plumbing Product Marketing Manager in 2012.

Genesis instructors named
Pool & Hot Tub Alliance company GENESIS® announced the addition of faculty members to its instructor roster for the start of the fall 2020 educational season. Joining GENESIS will be Greg Andrews; Terry Brannon, PE; Larry Drasin; Michael Given, SWD-registered and Kate Wiseman, MLA. These instructors, along with current faculty, are poised to lead the industry and provide the accredited education necessary to the 1,800-plus students in the GENESIS program.

WWEMA award winners named
In November, 2019, the Water and Wastewater Equipment Manufacturers Association (WWEMA) named George Vorsheim, COMMS Contractor, Environment One Corporation, recipient of the 2019 James C. Morriss Member Achievement Award. Lauryn Polito, a WWEMA member employee’s child who is attending Mississippi State University, was awarded WWEMA’s annual $1,000 (USD) scholarship. She is pursuing a degree in environmental science in agricultural systems with a minor in international agriculture and a track to a Masters in Business Degree. Polito has been active in the environmental arena for many years and is a recipient of the Stockholm Junior Water Prize.
