Kennedy appointed at Soft Water Specialists
Dennis Kennedy has been appointed to the Soft Water Specialists LLC team, heading the company’s salt and maintenance service, along with marketing. He enjoys working with people and helping them push beyond their limits, positive skills for essential customer service. While not yet certified, Kennedy plans to gain WQA certification in the near future. He has been in the fitness industry since he graduated from the University of Akron. Previously, Kennedy started personal training in 2012 then trained at Rackleys Sports Performance in West Richland, WA in 2015-16. He is training at Mission Accomplish Fitness in Kennewick, WA and is certified through ACTION.

Rogerson appointed to ACS VP position
The American Chemical Society (ACS) announced Audrey M. Rogerson, PhD, assumed the new role of VP of Development, effective June 3. She brings to ACS 17 years of experience as a fundraiser and organizational strategist for non-profits, focused on scientific research and science education. Rogerson will assume leadership in designing, articulating and implementing the future fundraising strategies of the organization. She will provide the strategic vision and leadership for a comprehensive development plan to elevate ACS’ philanthropic success by building a culture of philanthropy across the ACS community. Most recently, Rogerson served as the Director of Resource Development for the Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences (BIOS) and prior to BIOS, she worked as the Director of Corporate, Foundation and Government Relations for Boston’s Museum of Science and as Director of Development for the Arnold Arboretum of Harvard University. She holds a PhD in applied mathematics from Brown University.

Hawkins to keynote Water Smart
George Hawkins, former CEO and GM of DC Water, will deliver the keynote opening address for the 12th Annual WaterSmart Innovations Conference and Exposition in Las Vegas, NV on October 2. He launched his leadership and innovation-focused consulting business Moonshot LLC and a parallel non-profit enterprise Moonshot Missions after stepping down from DC Water, where he served for 11 years, including several as a board member. Hawkins serves on the National Infrastructure Advisory Council, is a strategic advisor to Xylem, Inc., is an Executive in Residence for XPV Water Partners and is a Professor of Practice for American University’s School of Public Affairs, where he teaches graduate students about urban development, infrastructure and innovation. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from Princeton University and Cum Laude from Harvard Law School, and taught environmental law and policy for the Princeton Environmental Institute from 1999 to 2017.

Haynes appointed at Little Beaver
Little Beaver welcomed Joseph Haynes as Product Engineer at the company’s manufacturing facility in Livingston, TX. A fourth-generation Little Beaver team member, he brings a familiarity of the family business and innovative knowledge of product design processes. Haynes most recently spent 11 years as a product engineer at pipe-fitting manufacturer WFI International, where he designed and developed a variety of fittings for different industries. He brings a wealth of manufacturing experience, as well as a strong understanding of mechanical engineering and product development to his new role. Haynes holds a Bachelor’s Degree in industrial engineering from Texas A&M University.

García-Bartolomei named IDA scholarship winner
The International Desalination Association (IDA) has awarded its Channabasappa Memorial Scholarship to Enzo Rene García-Bartolomei of Chile for the 2019/2020 academic year. The Institute of Seawater Desalination and Multipurpose Utilization (ISDMU), SOA (Tianjin, China), co-sponsored the 2019/2020 scholarship through a matching contribution to the IDA Sustainable Water Resources Foundation (SWRF), which will issue a $5,000 (USD) matching grant. This makes the total scholarship value $10,000.

Kemco sales team expanded
Kemco Systems announced the hire of three new sales team members. Matt Lewis brings an extensive sales background in the laundry industry and outfitting laundry automation systems. Based in Atlanta, GA, he will lead the global Laundry Market Vertical.

Dillon Moran’s diverse background in water technologies makes for a smooth transition as Regional Sales Manager in the Northeast Territory.

David Schwartzel, CE, has 20+ years designing and selling disinfection and water technologies and will be Regional Sales Manager in the Northwest Territory.
