WWEMA/W&WD honors announced

Water and Wastewater Equipment Manufacturers Association (WWEMA) and Water & Wastes Digest (W&WD) honored Elena Smith, a chemical engineering student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, with the 2018 WWEMA/W&WD Scholarship Award. The $1,000 scholarship award is offered to a WWEMA-member employee or employee’s child. Smith has a parent employed by WWEMA-member Aqua-Aerobic Systems, Inc. Upon graduating, she hopes to construct plants that will separate toxic chemicals and byproducts before water is discharged into the environment. WWEMA Chairman Thacher Worthen named Deb LaVelle, President and CEO of Aquarius Technologies as the recipient of the 2018 James C. Morriss Member Achievement Award. It is presented each year to a WWEMA member for significant contributions to the mission of the association and to the benefit of the water and wastewater industry.
