WQA veteran Maureen Hertel mourned

Maureen Hertel, 91, passed away peacefully in Green Valley, AZ on January 15; she was born on September 12, 1926 in Cedar Rapids, IA. She married Robert Hertel and eventually settled in Wheaton, IL with their six children. After praying to never wash dishes again, Hertel was offered the Office Manager position at Water Quality Association. She devoted over 30 years of service with much praise and gained life-long friendships. During her retirement years, Hertel enjoyed travel and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also continued to work as a nanny for a family she adored. Hertel was preceded in death by her husband, Robert and siblings, Kathleen (Jerry) McNichols and Alice (Dan) Truesdale. She is survived by her children, Mark Hertel, Theresa Clark, Bob (Julia) Clark, Michael Hertel, Alicia Hertel, Nancy (Luis) Hertel-Calvo and Elizabeth Hertel; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren as well as siblings, Anna Mae (Phil) Erickson and John (Mary) Shea; best friend of many years, Betty Blake and many extended family members and friends. Services will be held at 9:30 a.m., March 17 (her favorite day of the year) at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, 0S233 Church Street, Winfield, IL. A reception and time of sharing will follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, please bring your memories and stories to share.
