President, Director announced by Watts

Watts Water Technologies, Inc. announced that Srinivas K. Bagepalli joined the company as President of North America and W. Craig Kissel was elected as a member of the Board of Directors. From 2006 to 2011, Bagepalli was President and GM of three global companies within Danaher Corporation’s Industrial Technologies Group. Bagepalli also served as President of Sensors & Controls, Asia. Previously, he worked for General Electric Company, serving in several senior management positions. Kissel was also appointed to serve as a member of the Compensation Committee and the Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee of the Board of Directors. He was previously employed by Trane Inc., holding many senior management posi- tions during his tenure from 1980 to 2008. Kissel also served in the US Navy from 1973 to 1978 and has served as a director of Chicago Bridge & Iron Company since May 2009.

Bretz appointed Grundfos Director

Grundfos Pumps announced the promotion of Greg Bretz to Director of Regional Program Management. In this role, he will be responsible for continuing to develop the strategic direction for regional program management and accelerating the company’s program management development across the entire Grundfos North America organization. Bretz has held a number of positions within Grundfos over his eight-year career. Most recently, he served as the Business Development Manager for Grundfos  Water Industry Business Unit.

BE award winners announced

Bentley Systems, Incorporated announced project finalists in the 2011 Be Inspired Awards competition and four winners of the 2011 Be Inspired Special Recognition Awards. The awards honor the extraordinary work of Bentley users improving and sustaining the world’s infrastructure. Five independent panels of jurors, comprising accomplished Bentley users and distinguished industry experts, selected 59 finalists and Special Recognition Awards candidates from nominations submitted by 270 organizations in 42 countries. The four awards and winners are: Attaining Return on Innovation, Cadre Design Group, Inc.—SFOBB East Span Seismic Safety Project (San Francisco-Oakland, CA); Sustaining Our Society, Secretaria de Finanzas del Distrito Federal—Programme for the Modernization of the Mexico City Cadastre (Mexico City, Mexico); Sustaining Our Environment, Shinryo Corporation—Shinryo Eco Renewal Project (Tokyo, Japan) and Sustaining the Professions, GHD (Melbourne, Australia).

Severn Trent appointments

Severn Trent Services has appointed John Dyson as North American Sales Director for its Water Purification group and Enric Cardoner as GM for its Water Purification group in Europe. Dyson will be responsible for overseeing the municipal and industrial sales channels, partners and processes the company offers to the water and wastewater treatment markets in the US and Canada. He joins Severn Trent Services with 20 years of experience in technical sales and management. Cardoner will manage the company’s European business, which is serviced from offices in the United Kingdom, Italy and Spain. During his career, he has held senior positions with major companies in both water and technological fields. Born in Girona, Spain, Cardoner is a qualified engineer from the Universitat Politècnica of Catalonia and earned an MBA from the ESADE Business School.

McCarthy new Director at Water Group

WaterGroup announced John McCarthy as Director of International Sales, responsible for driving revenue growth in the International and US channels. McCarthy brings a strong back- ground in water treatment from his most recent role as Director of Commercial Sales for Culligan North America. Prior to joining Culligan, for 12 years he led sales efforts for ADT Security Services in various roles. During his tenure with ADT, McCarthy received seven annual National Leadership Awards.

 NSPF Chair honored with new lab

Dr. Fontaine Piper, a highly respected educator in the pool and spa industry, was honored by Truman State University (Kirksville, MO) in October when it dedicated the Fontaine C. Piper Movement Analysis Laboratory (Piper Lab). The honor reflects the extraordinary contributions he has made in the areas of health science and exercise science education.The state-of- the-art facility will integrate the three disciplines for which Piper was most closely identified: biomechanics, motor learning/control and anatomy. He has dedicated the past 23 years as Chair of the National Swimming Pool Foundation® (NSPF) Instructor Education Committee. Piper continues to maintain an active schedule, traveling all over America in support of the foundation’s education mission.

Hurtado added to Water-Right team

Water-Right Inc. announced the addition of Allen Hurtado as Regional Sales Manager for the west coast, including Montana and Idaho. Hurtado has over 30 years of experience, with emphasis in residential and commercial water treatment. In addition to residential water improvement, his experience spans numerous market segments, including irrigation, industrial process, high purity, and small public water systems. Hurtado brings with him hands-on management experience, as well as business and dealer development at manufacturer and dealer- ship levels within the water treatment industry.

Haws Marketing Director added

Haws Corporation® has named Wayne Wilson as its new Marketing Director. He has over 15 years of B2B marketing experience with an emphasis on industrial and technical markets. Previously, Wilson was a Business Development Manager with ABB, INC. He holds a BS Degree in finance from San Diego State University and an MBA from Wake Forest University, with international marketing studies at Oxford University.

WEF Board members announced

The Water Environment Federation (WEF) announced the members of its 2011-2012 Board of Trustees, who were confirmed by WEF’s House of Delegates during WEFTEC® 2011. The ‘gavel of leadership’ was passed from President Jeanette Brown to incoming President Matt Bond, an Associate Vice President of Black & Veatch. He will work over the coming months to finalize and implement a new strategic plan for WEF that includes increased emphasis on leader- ship and innovation. In addition, the Board includes: Immediate Past President Brown, President-Elect Cordell Samuels, Vice President Sandra Ralston, Treasurer Chris Browning, Secretary and Executive Director Jeff Eger, Trustees Charles Bott, Paul Bowen, Fran Burlingham, Kartik Chandran, Scott Cummings, John Hart, Terry Krause, Garry Macdonald, Karen Pallansch, Paul Schuler, Scott Trotter and Rick Warner.
